For Every Dom And Her Acid Blood
Edie Sedgwick “Sigourney Weaver” – God bless Edie Sedgwick (him, not her) for recording this electro-rock slash fic (electroslash!) song based on the homoeroticism of Aliens. Let’s face it, someone had to do it. It is very rare that I find myself wishing that a rocking electronic song had guitars instead of keyboards, but this is the exception to the rule. This recording is fine, but oh man if only this was heavier/thrashier. (Click here to buy it from DeSoto and here to watch the video on Edie’s official site.)
Weird War “See About Me” – You can file this one under “great, but if only…” as well. Where was the wild, spazzy Ian Svenonius that I remember from the Nation of Ulysses and The Make Up when he recorded this little number? Was it a conscious stylistic decision to sing one of the best songs he’s been involved with in the past few years as though he had a head cold? I’d prefer to think that he was unwell and they ran out of money for the sessions. Either way, definitely above average for Weird War, though it’s not quite on par with “AK-47” from their last album.
